Trolling speeds are limited to about 4mph maximum using the base Marine board and Aluminum baseplates. Magnetic baseplates release at a slightly lower speed of 3.5mph and also release more reliably than thumbscrews. As such, they are a good choice for any type of fishing Aluminum baseplates are considered heavy duty. The Water fished may be full of stumps, trolling speeds can be high. River fishing is likely.
